Congrats is in order for Neil Channing, who is the MD of the Black Belt Poker.com site, and the winner of the Luton section of the Grosvenor United Kingdom poker tour. He won 64 thousand pounds in this leg of the tournament. He has real solid results on the 2010 leg of the tour. He has played both legs on the tour in Luton and in London. He also made the final in London and he manage to outright win the Luton leg.

Let us look at a key hand from the Channing visit. When the blinds were at four hundred to eight hundred, a very gutsy young Vietnamese poker player raised to two thousand three hundred chips and got a caller. When Channing hit the big blind with a king of spades and an eight of spades, he decided to join in the game. When the right flop was taking place he thought that he could get all the chips from someone who has overplayed their starting hand.

As time will tell, the poker flop came in as an AK8 rainbow. Channing then decided to check while the first player bet four thousand eight hundred and the third player decides to fold. Channing then decided to flat call. He is aware bad poker player may decide to call a check raise as long as they have any ace, but he also knows that the Vietnamese sitting across from him is not a bad player. He doesn’t want to lose to him. He wants to move completely in when the poker pot asks for a call, rather than fold.

The poker game turn is a 10 and means a possibly dangerous situation but Channing doesn’t want to pass this opportunity. He doesn’t like flopping against an aggressive opponent once he has a strong hand. The other player bets eight thousand five hundred and Channing moves in. Unlucky for Channing, the other poker player as a ten of aces. And unlucky for the opponent, the river is an 8.

The turn is a 10. This could be dangerous, but Channing isn’t passing; how many times will he flop a strong hand against an aggressive opponent? When the opponent bets 8,500, Channing moves in as planned. Unlucky, Channing! The opponent has A 10. Unlucky, opponent! The river is an 8.

The sixth leg of the Grosvenor United Kingdom poker Tour will start this weekend. This event will take place at the Luton’s G Casino. This Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Luton event not only included the major event but also a whole range of exciting side events.

A buy in for this great main event cost in the area of a thousand quid and the first two days of the Grosvenor United Kingdom poker Tour will take place on the twelfth and 13th of August, on the Thursday and Friday respectively. Many players are expected to sign up for this event as the prizes are huge. Just ask Richard Gryko who managed to win around ninety thousand quid at last year’s event.

It’s easy to calculate what your Noble poker bonus will be. All you have to do is to add your deposit amount to your bonus to get your total.

At the moment, Alli Mallu is leading the GUKPT championship. He has 258 points on the score board and is closely followed by another poker great, Stephen Holden, who has around 215 points on the score board. But his match is not over by any means. You can earn points by ending up in the top eighteen at the GUKPT’s main event or if you manage to end up anywhere in the top ten in one of the GUKPT’s side events. Winners will earn anywhere from around a thousand pounds to the top scale prize of twenty thousand pounds. There are also many more prizes to be won for anyone who finish between 10th and 20th on the GUKPT leader board. These players will all receive prize money of five hundred pounds.

A satellite part of the main event took place last Friday on the sixth of August and players had to pay fifty pounds entry fee. There are also other side events like the hundred and fifty pound no limit Hold’ em event that took place yesterday and the hundred pound rebuy event that is taking place today. There is a two hundred pound freeze out that will take place tomorrow, and a five hundred pound freeze out that will take place on Tuesday.

James “Flushy” Dempsey, the United Kingdom’s 27 year-old poker prodigy, has just signed a Full Tilt Poker sponsorship deal to become the latest ‘Red Pros’ troupe member.

The young and talented Poker Tournaments player from Brighton in East Sussex has been winning quite a packet from playing poker for a living over the last couple of years. We had a look at ‘Pocket Fives’ and saw that he has already won 373 866 dollars at Full Tilt Poker and 630 286 dollars at Poker Stars.

Dempsey’s largest internet score to date was at the Poker Stars ‘09 SCOOP three hundred and twenty dollar Texas No-Limit Hold’em Poker event, where he managed to finish 2nd, and made 211 000 dollars.

It is his last stint of success at the 2010 WSOP, however, which led to the Full Tilt Poker sponsorship deal. Dempsey has managed to win more than 735 000 dollars from live poker tournaments since the year 2005. 511 867 alone came from his outstanding poker performance at the 2010 World Series of Poker, which included a World Series of Poker bracelet cash in at the 1 500 dollar Omaha and second place finish at the 10 000 dollar Omaha Hi/Lo poker event.

Dempsey now joins other British World Series of Poker winners Richard Ashby and Praz Bansi at Full Tilt Poker, and will be getting a large number of perks, which include a hundred per cent rake back and being paid thirty five dollars and hour just to play poker at the online poker hall.

When asked for a comment on how he feels about joining the Full Tilt Poker’s Red Pros team, Dempsey had the following to say:

“I couldn’t be more excited. This is a such a dream of mine. I’ve worked very hard for this over the years and to have won a bracelet and now this – it’s just fantastic.”

Mike Ellis won the $1 500 2010 World Series of Poker buy-in No-Limit Hold’em championship. Ellis is a 45-something financial trader from London, UK.

This win is Ellis’ first WSOP gold bracelet win in his career. He has so far won more than half a million dollars in international poker career tournaments. This win was great for him as this singular victory paid out more than half a million dollars in itself. Christopher Gonzalez from California came in at second place, but played really well right up to the end.

Ellis came in strong at the end. He doubled up his bet a couple of times and took the lead chip-wise when they went heads up. It was about time too as the clock has already passed the five am mark at that point. Gonzalez didn’t do too bad in the winning stakes, as he himself won more than three and a half thousand dollars.

Ellis is the 4th UK player to win a gold bracelet at this year’s World Series of Poker. Previous winners of the title are James Dempsey, Praz Bansi, and Richard Ashby.

The one and a half thousand buy-in tournament saw 2 394 entrants. The players who finished in the top 243, all went home with prize money. Of those who had previously won WSOP gold bracelets, and won cash here included – Carlos Mortensen (in 23rd place) and Howard Andrew (in 192nd place).

Howard Andrew has the record for the player who has taken part in the World Series of Poker in the most consecutive years. Andrew first taking part in the WSOP in 1974, and has been taking part ever since.

More on Michael Ellis – The WSOP champion

Ellis is 45-years-old and graduated from Oxford University. He has bee playing poker since his college days and have been passionate about poker for several years now. He used to work in the banking industry but has been a pro poker player since 2004. This career decision coincided with the 2004 global poker boom. Ellis has to date won more than a million dollars in career tournament games.

There is great excitement during the World Series of Poker and the upcoming Fifa Soccer World Cup. Being a Brit, I am really delighted for every final table and bracelet our UK players get to win in Vegas. While players aren’t always that fussed with local poker games, there is something about the Brits playing the US that inspires patriotism.

James Dempsey and Praz Bansi started off the UK frenzy. These players are both talented and popular UK poker figures. Dempsey is famous for his Blondepoker forum status and for winning a series of games on the UK circuit. Bansi is known for his successful poker career and his HitSquad connections.

It’s hard not to be aware of these men’s successes as the UK forums and Poker fans facebook walls are ringing out news about Banzi and Dempsi’s success at the World Series of Poker.

Its almost as popular a discussion as how well the England is going to fare at this year’s Fifa Football World Cup. Just as most of us can’t imagine screaming and supporting for any other country’s team, most of us can’t help feel a little smug when our players does well at the WSOP.

The question at the moment is whether these two players success will continue. It’s possible to match the three bracelets and we might even end up beating it. The UK is a fantastic poker environment and these boys have had the priviledge of competing against the best over here.

The UK has some of the best poker communities. Just think about the Hendon Mob, Blonde, Sky Poker, A World of Poker, APAT and Blackbelt poker. These poker communities develop strong spirit and are keen to help develop their players.

UK Poker players also have the opportunity to play poker games that are well structured and have deep stacks. Just think about APAT, Dusk Till Dawn, the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour, the Pokerstars UK & Ireland Poker Tour, the British Masters Poker Tour, Black Belt Poker Live, PKR Live, and the Sky Poker Tour Final. Viva UK Poker players!
