This was published 08-07-2018The 2018 Grosvenor Casinos Goliath tournament is due to be held in two and a half weeks, guaranteeing that the winner will take home an amount of £100,000 for an investment of £125. If previous editions are any indication, the Goliath tournament is bound to be massive.
In July of last year, when Grosvenor Casinos ran the Goliath, it broke the record for the largest live poker tournament ever to be held outside of Las Vegas, breaking the record for the number of unique events as well as for the number of re-entries purchased.
An incredible 4,022 unique players took part in the 2017 Goliath, making 1,263 re-entries among them and taking the total attendance to 6,385 entries. Each entry was worth an amount of £120 with the total prize pool, therefore, weighed in at an impressive £638,500.
Although 682 places were paid in 2017, it was Elliot Marais who walked away with the lion’s share of the prize pool of a whopping amount of £85,760 for his £120 investment.
The 2018 Goliath looks as though it will be eight days of poker fun. The flagship of the festival is the £100+£25 Goliath Main Event, which this year guarantees that its champion will secure a £100,000 payout.
The Grosvenor G Casino in Coventry’s Ricoh Arena will play host to the 2018 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Goliath festival which is scheduled to take place between Wednesday, 25th July and Sunday, 5th August 2018. The Main Event will feature seven starting flights, which are each re-entry, and is accompanied by an entire host of side events that are suited to players towards the more recreational end of the scale.
The event will, no doubt, reach capacity at some point but players can guarantee their seat by downloading Grosvenor Poker and buying into one of the holding tanks for an amount of £125. There are also a number of satellites running at Grosvenor Poker leading up to the Goliath shuffle up and deal.
