Nominations are currently open for the 2017 Poker Hall of Fame class and Sarah Herring of PokerNews recently walked around the Rio in order to interview poker players and media members in order to ascertain who they feel are the top picks.

A number of those interviewed, including Chris DeMace, Bruno Fitoussi, David Williams and PokerNews’ Mathew Parvis selected Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott.

Fitoussi revealed that he has Devilfish back on his list for 2017 and after speaking openly about the lack of European players in the Hall of Fame he went on to say that Devilfisht had a fantastic personality and character and he intends voting for him again.

Devilfish was an English professional poker player

Max Pescatori, four-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner has chosen Ted Forrest, a six-time bracelet winner and member of the consortium of high-stakes poker pros who took on Andy Beal, a Texas billionaire, in the early 2000s.  Forrest was born on 24th September 1964 and is an American professional poker player who currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Forrest won three bracelets at the 1993 World Series of Poker and two bracelets at the 2004 World Series of Poker.

He defeated poker player Phil Hellmuth in June of 2014 in the final table of the World Series of Poker Razz event, bringing his total number of WSOP bracelets to 6.

Pescatori described Ted Forrest as an amazing player and also said that he is very challenging.

Phil Ivey, was of course the obvious choice for this year’s class.  Ivey, who turned 40 in February of this year, is an American professional poker player who has won ten World Series of Poker bracelets, one World Poker Tour title and has appeared at nine World Poker Tour final tables.

Ivey first began to develop his poker skills by playing against co-workers at a New Brunswich, New Jersey Telemarketing firm in the late 1990s.

Ivey was at one time regarded by a vast number of poker observers and contemporaries as the best all-around player in the World.   He is currently the most feared cash game player of all time.
