Laak to Challenge Zimbler's Record

Phil Laak wants to beat Paul Zimblers’ Continuous Poker World Record.  Phil, also known as Unibomber, is hoping to beat the record that United Kingdom poker pro Zimbler set at the WSOPE in London.

At this event, Zimbler played for an unprecedented 75 hours in a row, and beat the UK poker player Dave Cain in the process.  Laak himself is no stranger to playing long poker sessions, and wants to try and beat this record on the second of June 2010.  The event that he will attempt to break the record at is the forth season of the PartyPoker Big Game events, to take place at the Bellagio in London.

PartyPoker Big Game event takes place during the World Series of Poker, which means that there will be several other poker pros looking forward to possibly breaking this particular record.

When Zimbler and Cain competed for the record last time around, they nearly went crazy, as one can only play so much poker at any one time.  There are people out there who think that Phil Laak is already crazy, which makes him the right guy to try and beat it.  Our sources tell us that Laak will be playing the full ring poker version, as apposed to heads up, which means that Zimbler will at the very least get to keep the heads up poker version of the record.

When Zimbler was asked in an interview what he thought about this, he was quoted as saying: “I have been speaking with Phil about this and wish him all the best. I am trying to get to Vegas to play the first and last hand with him. I have warned him about the risks involved, although full ring is not as taxing as heads up, but still 78 hours is not that easy”.

Phil Laak is a pro poker player, who now lives in LA, California. Laak won the World Poker Tour title back in 2004 and has played on several nationally-aired TV shows.
