The largest event of the UK poker year, the World Series of Poker Europe, got underway on Tuesday, 14th September, 2010, at the Empire Casino in London.

All the big names in poker will be attending this festival that will be playing host to five bracelet events with two new formats.

The festival kicked off at noon BST (4 a.m. PDT) on 14th September with a GBP 2,500 six handed no-limit hold’em 3 day event which continues until Thursday 16th September.  This first event will in all probability be one of the toughest events of the year.

Day two of the event kicked off without the UK’s poster boy for online poker, Chris Moorman, who has won a boatload on the net during the past few years. No one at the Empire Casino seemed to know where he was and there was no answer on his phone until he suddenly showed up at the event.  Evidently he had trouble getting to bed the night before and no alarm or phone calls were able to wake him up when morning arrived.  He arrived just before his empty seat was about to cash.

The second event features a GBP 5,000 pot-limit Omaha tournament and will take place from Thursday 16th September until Saturday 18th September.

The third event will take place from Friday 17th September till Tuesday 21st September and will be a GBP 1,000 no-limit hold’em event.

A new event, which is a GBP 10,000 no-limit hold’em high roller heads-up, will make its debut on 21st September as the fourth preliminary event.

23rd September will see the beginning of the Grand Finale for the 2010 World Series of Poker Europe which is a GBP 10,000 no-limit hold’em main event.  This 5th event will be a six day event and will continue until 28th September.
